Skype for BlackBerry

Title: Skype Mobile for BlackBerry

CTIA has announced last Tuesday with Skype and Verizon jointly the Skype Mobile application is coming to select BlackBerry and Android phones on Verizon's network.

There is only nine phones can currently run the app, Verizon and Skype and expected more phones to the mix. So if you don't have a BlackBerry Storm I or II, BlackBerry Curve or Tour, Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris, or Motorola Devour, keep your peepers trained on this First Look video. We'll show you what you're missing out on--or what you should expect when and if Verizon pushes Skype Mobile to more handsets.

BlackBerry hasn`t offered by skype before. While the news a huge boon to Verizon BlackBerry users who have been clamoring for Skype's attention, the limited availability is a bitter irony for those who use unsupported BlackBerrys like the Bold, or even compatible BlackBerrys on the other mobile networks.

The free Skype Mobile is available now on supported BlackBerry and Android phones. Check out the Download folder on BlackBerry and get the app on Android from the Android Market.

Junk E-Mails still rules

Title: Tens of millions still opening junk e-mail

In this day and era of technological advancement and digital lifestyles, it is incredible that nearly half of a surveyed audience opened junk e-mail (aka spam), intentionally.

According to an Ipsos Public Affairs Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) survey report (PDF), tens of millions of users continue to respond to spam in ways that could leave them vulnerable to a malware infection or bot network.

The results of that survey show that nearly 50% of the users have opened spam, clicked on a link in spam, opened a spam attachment, replied, or forwarded it--all activities that leave consumers susceptible to fraud, phishing, identity theft, and infection.

Despite the efforts of software vendors such as Symantec and Microsoft, malware and infectious botnets remain a major headache for users.

Not surprisingly, the users who tended toward riskier behavior when it comes to spam were also the most likely to have been infected with a virus. However, slightly less than half of the users thought it not very or not at all likely they would be infected.

The findings were aligned with last year's U.S. survey when 8 out of 10 respondents said they are aware of
malicious viruses that can control their computer, yet few believed they were susceptible to getting such a virus

China top source of malware

Title: China's malware problem, Symantec finds China top source of malware

Symnatec announced in his report that china is the biggest source of malware than any anyother country. The United States still leads with largest number of malware attacks sent from mail servers in the world. Symantec's report (PDF) found U.S. mail servers are responsible for distributing 36.6 percent of all global malware in March, followed by China at 17.8 percent and Romania at 16.5 percent.

Symantec captured these results by analyzing the IP addresses of sending mail servers. The company uncovered a large amount of malware from the United States in large part because many Web-based e-mail services, such as Gmail and Yahoo Mail, are hosted in the U.S.

But analyzing the source of malware based on the mail servers doesn't tell the full picture as the sender can use any Web-based e-mail account. By checking the actual sender's IP address found in the e-mail's header, Symantec found individuals in China responsible for 28.2 percent of malware, Romania for 21.1 percent, and the U.S. for 13.8 percent. Overall, the analysis discovered that most of the attacks coming from mail services in North American actually stem from other regions, including Asia, Europe, and Africa

China, of course, has been in the news lately due to its ongoing battles with Google over search and censorship. China has also been tagged as the source of the cyberattacks launched against Google and other companies.

In its latest analysis, Symantec also discovered more malware targeted to people with specific job roles. The five leading titles hit by malware now include director, senior official, vice president, manager, and executive director. The people receiving a higher number of attacks are typically in charge of foreign trade and defense policy, especially related to Asian countries, said the report.

E-mail file attachments hiding malware continue to be a popular method of attack. The most common types of files found in such e-mails were .xls (Microsoft Excel) and .doc (Microsoft Word) documents. Along with .zip and .pdf  files, these four accounted for 50 percent of the files attached to malicious messages this month.

But people should also be wary of receiving encrypted .rar files (a method of compressing files) through e-mail. Though these types of files make up only a small percent of malicious e-mail attachments, Symantec found them to be hosts for malware 96.8 percent of the time.

Web Content is king

Title: When it comes to Web sites Content is king

Now a day due to usage of so much internet no one can think that the first registered dot com started before 25 years. Today 668,000 dot-com sites have been registered each month and approximately 80 million dot-com domain are in use now a days, Undoubtedly We can say that the world web has done a remarkable and rapid development in this modern 25 years era.

Basically, It is not a revolutionary change done on the technology of web development. This change has been done by the changing of mind set of users and the way of publishing the content on sites in a such a convenient and easy manner.

Content, once static, became dynamic and now social integrated. Web sites need to be fully functional but at the same time they has to be interactive, attractive and engaging. In fact, well published and latest informative and unique content-driven Web sites receive 73 percent more traffic than transactional sites.

As Web development has evolved, it is easier for people to load their own content-driven sites. In 2001, there were few if any easy-to-use free tools available to load your own content-driven site. Anyone who is doing development at that time undoubtedly must had write their own or pay huge amount of money for products, For Example Interwoven or Vignette.

Web continues to evolve, It will continue to be evolutionary changes to how Web sites represent it self,
including the upcoming HTML 5, which introduces new semantics and functional elements to make web pages more interactive.

With tools such as Wordpress and Drupal, a little bit of CSS knowledge goes a long way towards letting businesses focus on the content and not on the underlying code.

Samsung slate PC

Title: Samsung slate PC will be released in this year

The Korean electronics company said at a technology forum in Singapore Monday that it will sell

a slate-like device starting in the second half of this year, according to a report in APC Magazine.

Samsung's slate will be intended for the consumer market, though details like size, operating system
and other tech specifications were not revealed. The company did say that its slate will be faster and
more powerful than that other tablet everyone is talking about, the iPad, which a Samsung executive
called "a glorified MID (mobile Internet device)."

"A lot of companies have played in the MID market and done a very average job and the iPad, which is a
glorified MID, just takes that to the next level," Philip Newton, director of Samsung Australia's IT division,
told APC Magazine. "The problems I see with the iPad are its processing power and (lack of) connectivity to
a certain extent."

"From my point of view, the iPad is essentially an e-book reader with wireless connectivity but no inputs
and outputs," Newton said. "I do feel that that slate-type platform has legs but I think the legs need to
be far more powerful, for example an Atom-based product which has far greater flexibility, not to mention inputs and outputs. This has more potential than an iPad."

While Samsung only began selling laptops in the U.S. market beginning in 2008, the company has been more
broadly experimenting with mobile computers for longer. In 2006, the company joined the ultramobile PC push with its Q1, a business-user-focused tablet that largely failed

Patch for Internet Explorer hole

Title: Microsoft preparing to patch IE hole after exploit code released

Microsoft said on Friday it is testing a patch to fix a new hole in Internet Explorer 6 and IE 7 following

the release of exploit code on the Internet. Microsoft warned about the hole, which it said was being targeted
in attacks and could allow an attacker to take control of a computer, in an advisory on Tuesday. The next day, Israeli researcher Moshe Ben Abu released exploit code for the vulnerability after using clues in a McAfee blog post to find existing exploit code and pinpointing the weakness from there.

"We have seen speculation that Microsoft might release an update for this issue out of band. I can tell you
that we are working hard to produce an update which is now in testing," Jerry Bryant, senior security communications manager lead at Microsoft, wrote in a post on the Microsoft Security Response Center blog.

"This is a critical and time-intensive step of the process as the update must be tested against all affected
versions of Internet Explorer on all supported versions of Windows. Additionally, each supported language
version needs to be tested as well as testing against thousands of third party applications," he wrote. "We
never rule out the possibility of an out-of-band update. When the update is ready for broad distribution,
we will make that decision based on customer needs."

"With today's update, we have added a Microsoft Fix It to automate this workaround for Windows XP and
Windows Server 2003 customers," Bryant said. "As always, customers should test this thoroughly before
deploying as certain functionality that depends on the peer factory class, such as printing from Internet
Explorer and the use of Web folders, may be affected."

Adobe shows off Web tech

Title: Going beyond Flash, Adobe shows off Web tech

Sure, Adobe Systems spends a lot of effort developing and promoting its Flash technology. And sure, a

lot of the new "Open Web" technologies are a competitive threat to Flash. But that doesn't mean Adobe isn't interested in HTML5 and CSS3--the updates to Hypertext Markup Language for describing Web pages and to Cascading Style Sheets for Web page formatting--that are two of the most important parts of that Open Web work. After all, Adobe does have its DreamWeaver product for Web site development.

But there's a new sign that Adobe is taking more interest in Open Web work. Last week, it launched its
Design and Web blog, written by Paul Gubbay, senior director of engineering, and Lea Hickman, senior director of product management for the Creative Suite design and Web tools, suites, and services.

So far the pair have hinted that Adobe is working on some more powerful tools for HTML5 and CSS3, with
internal demonstrations of what can be done, though no promises of shipping anything anytime soon.
"Recently, we attended technology demos across our design and web products. We saw a range of prototypes, many of which were focused on new services, multiscreen authoring leveraging HTML5 and CSS3. We have been spending a lot of time internally thinking about how our tools can best support and take advantage of some of the new functionality in HTML 5, and we wanted to share a couple of early ideas with you," they said, offering a demonstration of the Canvas technology for 2D graphics through HTML5.

In another, they describe Adobe's approach to "multiscreen" authoring with CSS3--in other words, coding a
Web site so that it displays correctly on a variety of different devices with different screens. We are,
after all, entering the era in which browsers are in widespread use on mobile phones, e-book readers, TVs,
and Apple's iPad, which notably doesn't include Flash support.

Nissan to standardize electric car

Title: Toyota, Nissan to standardize electric car rechargers

Top Japanese carmakers Toyota and Nissan helped set up a group to standardize fast-charge stations for

electric cars on Monday in a bid to promote the spread of the zero-emission vehicles. The group, led by Japan's biggest utility, Tokyo Electric Power, Toyota Motor, Nissan Motor, Mitsubishi Motors and Fuji Heavy Industries, will set a standard for Japan and later aim for an international standard. Some 158 companies and government bodies are expected to join, including 20 non-Japanese firms such as PG&E, Enel, Endesa, and PSA Peugeot Citroen. Electric vehicles are seen as one solution to meeting stricter environmental regulations because they have no tailpipe emissions. But they face hurdles such as costly batteries and a limited driving distance compared with conventional cars, as well as the lack of infrastructure to recharge when away from home.

Forming a common "language" for fast-charging electric cars across various brands would save development
costs for carmakers and ancillary industries, said the group, called Chademo. (Editors' note: According to Toyota's press release, "'CHAdeMO' is an abbreviation of 'CHArge de MOve', equivalent to 'charge for moving',and is a pun for 'O cha demo ikaga desuka' in Japanese, meaning 'Let's have a tea while charging' in English." )

"We will compete when it comes to vehicle performance, but we should cooperate on areas such as infrastructure" said Nissan Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga. Japan's No. 3 automaker will begin selling its first electric car later this year.
Mitsubishi Motors and Fuji Heavy, the maker of Subaru-brand cars, are the world's only mass-volume automakers now producing battery-run electric cars, with sales so far limited to corporate and government fleets in Japan.

There are 1,000 electric cars and 150 fast-charge stations in Japan already," Tokyo Electric Power Executive Vice President Hiroyuki Ino told a news conference in Tokyo. "Our aim is to form a standard in Japan and make use of that in the world."

He said the group would lobby international bodies such as the Society of Automotive Engineers and the
International Transport Forum to promote its technology.
